Torregrande – The young foil specialists are back to racing in the waters of the Gulf of Oristano. This time, the Oristano marina will host the Formula Kite Youth European Championship, the European youth championship where the U21 and U17 titles will be awarded.

Formula Kite has just made its debut at the Paris Olympic Games, with Marseille hosting the races. Italian athlete Riccardo Pianosi came close to the podium, securing a fourth-place finish. Pianosi is one of the highly anticipated participants in Torregrande, a place where he feels at home after competing in world championship editions and winning a gold medal in the 2023 Formula Kite Youth European Championship.

On October 12th and 13th, Torregrande will also host the 10th stage of the Wingfoil Italian Cup, another sailing discipline that will see Oristano locals Maddalena and Nicolò Spanu, respectively world and European champions, and vice world champion of this new discipline, in the water. They will also compete in the Wingfoil World Cup, which will take place in Cagliari. This world event will also feature two other young athletes from Oristano, members of the Asd Eolo Beach Sports, Riccardo Piana and Gioele Incani.

The Italian Cup stage in Torregrande will also serve as the final stage of the Sardinian Championship, meaning the Oristano races will determine the 2024 regional champion.

“We are excited about this new great sporting adventure,” says organizer Eddy Piana of Asd Eolo Beach Sports. “Formula Kite has found a home in Torregrande since 2021. We have seen some of the greatest athletes in this discipline compete here, and with a bit of pride, we can say that we have accompanied them on the path that led them to the 2024 Olympics. We like to think that we are continuing the journey alongside them toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”

The event presentation will take place on Monday, September 30, at 10:30 AM in Torregrande at Asd Eolo Beach Sports.

These are two major aquatic sporting events that add to the Absolute Italian Beach Tennis Championships, which Eolo Beach Sports hosted in August. Three major events with which Eolo celebrates 30 years of activity dedicated to sports. To commemorate this great milestone, from October 6 to 13, Eolo will host DJ sets, rich culinary moments, and entertainment shows.

The event is promoted by the Department of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Commerce of the Sardinia Region, with the support of the Municipality of Oristano, the Sardinia Foundation, and the Oristano Foundation.
