The X edition of the Open Water Challenge is ready to get rich with a new, important one
content. After the announcement of the Formula Kite European Championship the time has come to
confirm the great “classic” of Stand Up Paddle which for ten years has been a must
the appointment with the iconic event of Torregrande, a leading event in the calendar of
Oristano European City of Sport 2019.
From 20 to 22 September it will in fact be back in the water with the Sinis SUP Marathon, the Long Distance that
it borders the ancient settlement (now an archaeological site) of Tharros, a natural amphitheater overlooking
on the sea and bordered by the isthmus of Capo San Marco.
The race will be open to everyone: professionals and amateurs, with boards of all lengths. It will be realized
a shorter track for kids and for those who just want to go out on SUP in a context
fun and sporty, with no ambition for a podium.
A special Pro-Am format will also be offered for those who want to try an experience
exciting and unique, participating in the race side by side with resounding names of this one
discipline.
This Long Distance, which over the years has carved out an important place in the panorama
national, began to establish itself internationally with strength last year, when it was
chosen as a test for the EuroSUP, the Absolute European Championship of Stand Up Paddle, which has seen
compete the strongest pro riders on the continent.
The competition will be part of the OWC SUP Festival, a party inside the party! Three
days dedicated to the world of Stand Up Paddle with side activities, music and entertainment. The
all framed by a festive atmosphere and the inevitable Sardinian tradition. They will take place
besides interesting Clinics with professional athletes, it will be possible to test the equipment of the
main brands of Stand Up Paddle and enjoy a historical and unique event of its kind.
